Tyson was born in Houston, Texas, but moved to Portland in time to be a Student Leader at Namanu Outdoor School. Tyson has a degree in recreation, and has held a variety of interesting jobs such as snowboard and skateboard instructor, maritime educator, humanure technician, direct support specialist with adults and teens in a residential program, as well as a Program Leader at the Namanu, Howard, and Cascade Outdoor School Sites before becoming the Angelos Outdoor School Site Supervisor. Tyson's favorite thing about Outdoor School is watching young people make new friends, and his newest hobby is BBQ smoking (using the smoker he constructed out of an old metal filing cabinet).

Will was a Student Leader at Howard Outdoor School in the early '70s—back when they were still called "Junior Counselors." Throughout the late '70s and early '80s, Will served as a Senior Counselor (Program Leader) and Wildlife Resource Specialist (Animals Field Instructor) at Howard, Collins, and Sports Acres. In the Spring of 1985, Will began is illustrious career as an Outdoor School Site Supervisor for the Eagle Fern, Arrah Wanna, Milk Creek, Cascade, Kiwanis, and Howard sites. Will holds a Bachelor of Science with a focus on the Natural History of the Pacific Northwest. He has also worked in Fisheries Biotechnology for the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, and has experience banding birds. Will is a builder and fixer of many things at Outdoor School.
