Remember to say something different to each student. Remember they can hear what you said to the other students in the cabin.
- I noticed . . . . Observe something about the student and then say (for example), “:__(student’s first name__, I noticed you were wearing a Portland Trailblazer shirt. It’s one of my favorite teams. Have a good-night.”
- “:__(student’s first name__, I saw you doing a great job on ___________ today. Have a good-night and I hope you have a great day tomorrow!”
- Any questions about anything? (Jessica “Juice” H.)
- Ask a random question, different one for each student. (i.e., favorite ice cream toppings, favorite shoe color, etc) make questions fun and weird. They will beg for their random question by the end of the week. (Larissa J.)
- If you could teach field study, which one would you teach? (Casper “Toast” K-L)
- If homesick, give them something to think about which you can make happen for them the next day. (Nathan “Mars” S.)
